dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a painless, effective and safe exfoliation treatment that has instant results. Excess dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) is removed from the skins surface using a sterile surgical scalpel which stimulates the production of new skin cells. A more radiant complexion, rejuvenation and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scarring are a few of receiving regular dermaplaning treatments.

At MA Aesthetics, Dermaplaning is performed in conjunction with an Enzyme Peel to achieve optimal results. This non-abrasive facial peel efficiently and quickly removing dead skin cells whilst encouraging new cells to come to the surface, leaving skin looking clear, smooth and soft. Tests show that using an Enzyme Peel greatly improves skin’s texture and radiance without any of the down time associated with chemical peelings.

Benefits of Dermaplaning:

  • Provides deeper product penetration
  • Removes soft facial hair ‘peach fuzz’ that traps dirt and oils
  • Skin looks smoother and more radiant
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines
  • Works on all skin type
  • Instant results with no downtime
  • Encourages the skin to produce new cells
Will the hair on my face grow back thicker or darker?

Absolutely NOT – Peach hair, medically referred to as vellus hair is what is located on the face. This hair is different to the darker hair found on the eyebrows, genitals, underarms and legs which is called terminal hair. Due to the different types of hair, it is physiologically impossible for vellus hair to grow back thicker or darker.

Who is dermaplaning suitable for?

Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types, however, people who suffer from active acne should not have this procedure. This is because the instrument used is a surgical scalpel which is extremely sharp and could cause irritation or spread bacteria leading to a further acne breakout. Additionally, if you do have darker, thicker hair on your face, it’s likely this could be terminal hair. If this is the case, dermaplaning these hairs may cause them to grow back thicker and darker so it is advised to speak to your practitioner to further discuss whether this treatment would be suitable for you.

When can I see results?

Immediately! Dermaplaning provides many of the same benefits as a light chemical peel. Dermaplaning can remove 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells in each session so it’s recommended that you allow your skin to complete its full rejuvenation cycle before repeating the treatment.
